1) Research: music videos You need to write a  150-word close-textual analysis  of  SIX  music videos that will inform your production work. The music videos you analyse are up to you but focus on a different aspect of media language for each one (see guidance below).   Music Video 1: Narrative Video: "Stan" by Eminem "Stan" tells the story of a fan whose obsession with Eminem leads to tragedy. The video follows a linear narrative, imitating the song’s lyrics, and it switches between Stan’s increasingly inconstant behaviour and Eminem’s distant, detached life. This juxtaposition highlights the fan’s growing instability, while Eminem remains unaware of the situation until it’s too late. The video uses Todorov’s narrative structure: equilibrium (Stan as a fan), disruption (obsession), and new equilibrium (Stan’s death). The video increases the emotional impact, making the audience sympathise with Stan but also fear his descent into madness. By showing Stan’s tragic fa

Y12 exam - Media Paper 2: Learner response

Firstly, focus on the unseen question and identify  two  aspects of the poster that you could have written about in your answer. The representation of youth as diverse in terms of gender and race. The way events, issues, individuals and social groups (including social identity) are represented through processes of selection and combination 3) Look at the indicative content for Q1 again and make a note of any  theories  or examples of  media terminology  you could have used in your answer. Wells’ novel of the same  name, first published in 1898. It tells the  story of an alien invasion and the ensuing  conflict between mankind and an extra- terrestrial race from Mars. The text has been  frequently interpreted as a commentary on  British Imperialism and Victorian fear and  prejudice. The book has been adapted for  both radio and (several) films, including the  2005 version starring Tom Cruise. It was  also famously turned into a best-selling musical album by Jeff Wayne  in 1978 (recently updated by Gary Barlow as a touring stage musical) 2) When was it first broadcast and what is the popular myth regarding the reaction from the audience? Broadcast live on 30th October 1938, popular myth

TV assessment: Learner response

  1) Type up your feedback in  full  (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential). Either you didn't give me any or you gave it to me on a different paper than the exam paper that I don't have. 2) Read  the whole mark scheme for this assessment  carefully. Identify at least  one  potential point that you missed out on for each question in the assessment (even if you got full marks for the question). Q1-There are many examples of intertextuality: the main central image suggests a bridge between James Bond and Austin Powers (bond parody) with Tower Bridge in the background reinforcing London as a location; Samuel L. Jackon’s image nods to both Tarantino films and the Blaxploitation genre (Tarantino is also referenced by the martial arts female suggesting the Kill Bill movies); Michael Caine (bottom right) appears to be reprising his role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy; the image at the top is visually reminiscent of Matt D
