Cinematography: blog analysis tasks

Skyfall - Opening
1) Write an analysis of the cinematography in the opening sequence. Highlight your use of media language and try to cover camera shots, angles and movement using the terminology we have learned in lessons.

It starts with a shallow focus long shot of James Bond and then it slowly transitions into a deep focus close up of his blue eyes. This is followed by a medium back shot  following him trough the hallway. It switches to a medium side shot focusing on his carefulness. After that we see a long shot of the two dead bodies individually. Then it switches to a medium pan shot ending in a long distance back shot. Then we see a close up of a damaged laptop. It back to a long shot of bond and then he throws away to laptop. After this it goes to a two shot of Bond and the injured man . Keeps switching until there is a close up of the injured mans wound. Back to two shots of bond trying to stop the beading. Bond is ordered to leave him and he continues to find his target.

2) How does the camerawork give the audience clues about the setting, narrative and character?

It gives clues about the setting as after a bit when James Bond goes outside of the building to start the chase by revealing they are in a old city like Rome. I instantly solidify James Bond as a secret agent and that he is on a chase mission.

Secondly, find and analyse one film or TV still image. Add the image to your blog post.

3) Analyse the camera shot/angle in the image and what it communicates to the audience. Remember to highlight the media terminology you use.

This is a middle shot/ close up of The Rock and George. This picture signifies the relation ship of those two as the gorilla is all beat up  and damaged but still manages to pull of a joke on his best friend. The shot is taken from the back of The Rock to give us his perspective of what is happening.
